Postseparation Support & Alimony

pss pict

Spousal support in North Carolina is referred to as “post separation support” and “alimony.”  In North Carolina, it is the job of the court to determine the incomes of the parties, the financial responsibilities and expenses of the parties, the financial resources of the parties, and the needs of the parties to award an amount the “supporting spouse” shall pay the “dependent spouse.”  Determining spousal support can be extremely fact specific with child support and equitable distribution issues playing a role in the amount and duration of spousal support.  Parker Law, PA reviews each case on a case-by-case basis since family law matters can be quite unique.
